Monday: Review questions from Friday; define vocabulary. Homework — Read pages 41 – 56.
Tuesday: No class.
Wednesday: Discuss reading; read pages 57 -61 together. What is Beatty’s point? Do you agree? Disagree? Make vocab sentences. Homework — Read pages 62 – 77; come in with at least 3 typed questions.
Thursday: Discuss questions in small groups. Answer the ones you can; bring the ones you can’t or about which you differ to the whole class. Homework — Study for vocab quiz Friday.
Friday: Vocab quiz; read pages 78 – 91. Homework — Read Can censorship ever be justified and come in prepared to discuss with whom you agree and why; define Voc #2.

Monday: Of Mice and Men ID test. Homework — return Of Mice and Men and check out Fahrenheit 451.
Tuesday: No class.
Wednesday: Banned books activity ; intro to Fahrenheit 451 read pages 9, 11, 12, and 13 of http://www.steppenwolf.org/_ui/_pdf/studyguides/F451_studyguide.pdf (you’ll have to cut and paste) ; read first few pages and discuss. Homework — print out ch 1 vocab and read through the middle of page 21.
Thursday: Discuss reading; review vocabulary. Homework — read pages 21 – 40. (Yes, I know that’s a lot. We’ll have 15 minutes of reading time at the start of class tomorrow.)
Friday: Reading time; reading questions. Homework — Are we lost or not? assignment.

Monday: What do we learn from the discussion about the farm (and “living off the fatta the lan’”) and the sort-of-fight between Curley and George; discuss the racism and sexism in the novel — Why is it there? Homework –Study for vocabulary quiz.

Wednesday: Rough draft due. Peer edit; mini-lesson on formatting dialogue. Homework — Final draft due Friday. (Please note, we will start Of Mice and Men on Thursday, so you will not have class time to work on the final draft on Thursday.)

Homework — Review chapters 10 and 11, and come in with 3 typed quotes from the novel, one of which must be from chapter 10 or 11 (significant in terms of plot development, character development, thematic development, or writing); if you missed the Friday before Break, please check with Ms. A for the in-class work.
Tuesday: No class.
Wednesday: Review and discuss quotes; discuss relevance/worth/believability of the novel; read chapter 12. Homework — Complete chapter 11/12 reading log.

Homework — please look over the not-really-a-pig-hunt (pp. 114-115) and the end of chapter 7 and come in prepared to discuss what you discover about the specific boys involved in these events and the boys in general. Read chapter 8, pp. 124 – mid. p. 137. Print out these questions ch 8 qs .
Tuesday: Discuss the ch. 7 questions that you prepared and the reading. Homework — Read chapter 8, pp. 137 – end.
Wednesday: Small group questions on reading. Homework — None.
Thursday: Read the start of chapter 9 aloud in class and discuss. Homework — Finish reading chapter 9.

Monday: Submit ch 5/6 reading log; work on vocab sentences. Homework — Read chapter 7; post reading log questions on blog if you didn’t have an opportunity to do so in class; write sentences using all of the vocabulary words on the unit guide from tumult to bastion.
Tuesday: No class.
Wednesday: Review strengths and areas for improvement in Romeo and Juliet letters; review vocabulary sentences and create new ones for the last words on the list; discuss chapters 6 and 7. Reading time. Homework — Finish chapter 8. Argh! I updated this in class, but for some reason it didn’t take. I’m sorry. We’ve had troubles with connectivity in the 200 hall, but I received no alert that this didn’t update. The questions are 1, 6, and 8. Chapter 5 and 6 qs
Thursday: Discuss chapter 7. Homework — none.

Tuesday:(No class) Read chapter 5 and come in ready to discuss what we learn from the littuns through their actions and fears.
Wednesday: Discuss chapter 5; work on questions; start to define vocabulary words. Homework — define remaining vocabulary words the next 10 vocabulary words; read pp. 95-end of the 1st paragraph on p. 104.
Thursday: Discuss reading; make sentences with vocabulary. Homework — finish chapter 6, write part 1 of the ch 5/6 reading log.
Friday: Make more vocabulary sentences; questions on chapter 6; discuss leadership. Homework — finish chapter 5/6 reading log, complete the definitions of vocabulary on the unit guide, and write sentences on tumult-bastion.
